This trip by private boat will show you one of the loveliest villas and gardens on Lake Como. Villa Balbianello on the tip of the Lavedo promontory, is perhaps in the most spectacular spot on the lake. It was built at the end of the 18th century and today belongs to F.A.I. – the Italian equivalent of the National Trust. Visit the beautiful and exquisitely furnished interiors and the great collection of pre-Columbian objects, Chinese porcelain and terracottas, reverse-glass paintings, tapestries and carpets that belonged to its last owner, Count Guido Monzino, a keen explorer renowned for climbing Mount Everest in 1973.

St. Moritz and the Bernina Express – full day tour

This excursion takes you along the northern part of the lake to the town of Tirano where we stop for coffee before proceeding into Switzerland and reach Poschiavo. Part of this excursion is done with the well-known panoramic Bernina Express train. We take the train in Poschiavo (Switzerland) and continue to Diavolezza (Switzerland), doing one of the nicest section of the Bernina Express Railway. We will see the White Lake and the Black Lake and plenty of breathtaking glaciers. Then, by bus, reach St. Moritz. The famous Swiss holiday and ski resort is on the southern side of the Alps in the Engadine Valley with its numerous crystal clear mountain lakes. On our return we stop in Chiavenna and have some free time before returning to Lake Como

Milan - full day

TUESDAY departure - $85 PER PERSON

This full day excursion to one of the great cities of Europe has something for everyone. Your guided tour will start from the Castle of the Dukes of Milan, which is said to be the Greatest Renaissance monument in the city. Afterwards you will admire the historic centre with its highlights, first of all the Scala Opera house, one of the most famous theatres in the world. Then some time at leisure for shopping before returning to Lake Como.

WEDNESDAY departure (operates May to Sept. only) – $75 PER PERSON

PICK UP: approx. 10.15 am departure by boat

An idyllic cruise, with a full commentary, viewing the glorious villas of Lake Como, including the Villa Balbianello whose gardens and sensuous beauty were used for the James Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ and the Villa Cassinella, one of the most prestigious private villas of the lake. The tour will also include the Villa Oleandra and Villa Margherita which belong to George Clooney, Villa Fontanelle at Moltrasio, which was the residence of Gianni Versace, the Villa D’este, voted the world’s best hotel in 2009 and many others. On the way back we will stop on the Comacina Island famous for its dramatic history and legends, where you will have some time at leisure for exploring its unique charms or perhaps to take an aperitivo at the Kiosk (in the event of bad weather instead of stopping on Comacina Island you will be able to enjoy an aperitif on the panoramic fourth-floor terrace of the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia).

Bergamo

THURSDAY departure – full day – $86 PER PERSON

Take the public boat from Villa Carlotta’s boat landing stage at 9.20 am to Varenna – the guide will meet you at Varenna ferry landing stage

Bergamo is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns in Northern Italy, dating back to the Middle Ages. It is known as the mini Florence of the north. We depart from Varenna, via Lecco, the town of Alessandro Manzoni’s “The Betrothed”. We proceed to Bergamo and the “Città Alta” (the Upper town) surrounded by its medieval Venetian walls. Before the guided tour you will have time for a stroll around the streets of this stunning and sophisticated small town, and to enjoy lunch. Bergamo is well known for its culinary specialities.

Lake Orta & Stresa - full day

FRIDAY departure - $94 PER PERSON

This full day tour by coach starts with a drive to Lake Orta, where we will have time for a stroll around the village. Then continue on to the elegant town of Stresa, situated on Lake Maggiore. You will take the boat to Isola Bella where you will have free time for a short visit, back by boat to Stresa where you will have time at leisure to visit the town.

Morcote & Lugano with boat tour - full day

FRIDAY departure (operates May to Sept. only) – $78 PER PERSON

Departure by bus to the village of Morcote, with its small alleys, arcades and characteristic Patrician homes, valuable architectural monuments and its natural beauty. Morcote is considered “the Pearl of Ceresio”. At about 12pm take the boat from Morcote to Lugano admiring the beautiful view of the lake from the lake. The boat tour takes about 45min. before reaching Lugano one of the finest and more elegant towns in Switzerland. Visit the wonderful Via Nassa and the square of Riforma with their elegant buildings and their exclusive shops, or pay a visit to the municipal park Ciani. Continue on to visit the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. After some time at leisure return to the hotel by bus.
