day 01 Catania Arrival

Independent arrival at the Hotel Il Principe in Catania. Welcome cocktail will be followed by dinner at the hotel

day 02 Catania-Siracusa-Ragusa

After a buffet breakfast, depart to Siracusa: visit the archaeological area “Neapolis” including the famous Latomie of the Paradise and the Dyionisios “Ear”. Continue to the island of Ortigia, the small baroque old city centre of Siracusa: visit of the Cathedral, which is built upon the site of the Temple of Minerva, the legendary Arethuse Fountain and the Temple of Apollo. Own arrangements for lunch. Depart to Ragusa and visit of the enchanting historical centre “Ibla”, with its stunning baroque palaces and churches; together with other seven cities in the Val di Noto, Ragusa is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Enjoy a tasting of typical products of the island on the way. Accommodation and dinner at the Hotel Poggio del Sole.

day 03 Ragusa-Caltagirone-Piazza Armerina-Agrigento

After a buffet breakfast, depart to Caltagirone, a small town in the inland of Sicily, declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous worldwide for the production of pottery and in particular majolica (Italian tin-glazed pottery that dates back to Renaissance and decorated in bright colors) and terracotta wares: panoramic visit and opportunity of shopping. Continue to Piazza Armerina to visit the worldwide known Villa Romana del Casale, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to its well preserved mosaics depicting mythological themes and hunting scenes. Lunch on traditional specialties at a local restaurant. Depart to Agrigento, a hillside town famous for its magnificent Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: guided tour of the Valley, including the Temple of Concordia, almost in perfectly preserved condition, Juno and Heracles. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Dioscuri Bay Palace.

day 04 Agrigento-Palermo-Monreale

After a buffet breakfast depart to Palermo. This special day will be dedicated to discovering the capital of Sicily, Palermo. Arrival in Monreale and visit of the Cathedral, one of the most beautiful monuments of the world with its Moorish architecture, housing very fine mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments and the Benedictine Cloister in Arab-Norman style. Enjoy some free time for lunch. Proceed to Palermo to visit the historical centre, one of the largest of Europe, including the Cathedral, the Palace of the Normans and its superb Palatine Chapel. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa.

day 05 Palermo-Segesta-Erice-Salt Route (Trapani area)-Palermo

After a buffet breakfast, depart to Segesta to admire the magnificent Doric Temple, 420 B.C to 430 B.C, and the Theatre, one of the best-preserved Greek architectural sites, surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Continue to the medieval village of Erice placed on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands: walk through its tiny and characteristic streets, the winding lanes and, inner courtyards. Own arrangements for lunch. Down to Trapani area for a panoramic tour of the salt windmills and basins which are still in use. Return to Palermo. Dinner at your Hotel.

day 06 Palermo-Cefalu’-Nebrodi Park-Taormina

After a buffet breakfast, depart to Cefalù a former fishing village, now a charming coastal town. Enjoy a walk to the city center and down the main street to reach the Arab-Norman Cathedral and the medieval wash-house built in the rock. Drive through the Park of “Nebrodi” and stop at the Miraglia Forest for lunch based on a typical menu. Continue to Cesarò, Randazzo and view Mt Etna parkland from an unusual point, the north facing side, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Arrival in Taormina where you will stay at the hotel Villa Diodoro located near historic centre of Taormina. Enjoy dinner in the evening.

day 07 Taormina-Mt Etna (Optional)-Taormina

After a buffet breakfast, morning at leisure or for those who are interested, opportunity to take an optional excursion to the Mount Etna, the highest active Volcano in Europe (weather permitting), we travel across fascinating landscape to reach a height of 1800 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters and from where you can enjoy a spectacular panorama over the Ionian Sea (supplement on the spot; the excursion will take place with a minimum number of participants). Own arrangements for lunch. Afternoon in Taormina, charming city called "the pearl of the Ionian Sea": enjoy time at leisure for shopping or walking through its tiny streets. Possibility to independently visit the Greek-Roman Theatre, with its spectacular view of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

day 08 Taormina Departure

Your Sicily experience comes to an end after breakfast.

Inclusions: twin share in 4 star accommodation, welcome cocktail, breakfast and dinner daily, 2 lunches, ½ mineral water at meals, tastings in Ragusa Ibla, deluxe coach or minivan with driver/guide for groups with less than 8 pax, English speaking tour escort, local tour guides, porterage, whispers kit.
