day 02 fri Rome-Tasting Tour in Rome
Enjoy the morning to discover Rome at your leisure
Late afternoon make your way to Piazza Farnese to join your small group. With our local food guide, you’ll enjoy a nice stroll through characteristic but more hidden areas of Rome like the Jewish Ghetto, and through their traditional markets, restaurants, Gelato and coffee shops. You’ll meet our local food connoisseur close to the suggestive Campo dei Fiori, in the square of Piazza Farnese. Your tasting tour starts with this lovely sight, in a group of 12 people or less for a personal approach, and will end on the other side of the river, in the suggestive Trastevere neighbourhood. So, you’ll burn calories while going from fried artichokes, codfish and zucchini flowers to spices and vegetable street market in Campo de Fiori, from fragrant Pizza and Mortadella to original Supplì rice-balls, from Roman-style Pasta to creamy Gelato. During your delicious journey, you’ll also learn some tips about Italian eating habits and the special Jewish-Roman cuisine, traditional hand-made recipes, and seasonal and fresh ingredients. For all your question about food shopping in Rome, feel free to ask and try in practice with tastings - this is the right chance!

There, you will pick all of the ingredients necessary to create the menu you’ll be preparing in a cooking lesson. Don’t wear your best shoes! The Chef, who will guide you through the lesson, will show you step by step how to prepare each menu item, using methods that you will surely be able to duplicate once you return home. From appetizers to the first course, second course, and dessert, the Chef will teach you the preparations of a delightful, traditional Italian meal. Relax and enjoy the nature before being taken back to Rome.

day 04 sun Rome-Castelli Romani-Castel Gandolfo-Albano-Arriccia
09.45am Pick up from your hotel.
Summer can be very hot in Rome. So, among your city tours and visits, try something different. The green countryside area just outside Southern Rome, and close to the sea, is named Castelli Romani - that is Roman Castles, as their towns spot the hills with Medieval fortresses. But the good news is that you could enjoy nature, monuments and delicious cuisine, as well. The typical wines and the roast pork Porchetta prepared in this area have an old tradition, and are very appreciated in all Italy! Especially the town of Ariccia is well-known for its Fraschette, casual osteria-type dining places whose name is derived from the old habit of nailing a vine twig on the cellar’s entrance with the purpose to advertise a new vintage. Frasca - and its diminutive fraschetta - means slender twig. So, beyond admiring the monumental building of Palazzo Chigi and the church of Santa Maria Assunta, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the same architect of St. Peter’s Square in Rome, you could give yourself a delicious treat. With our local food connoisseur guide, you’ll enjoy some food and wine tastings that you won’t forget! Return to Rome.
