Varenna, travel through Lecco, the town of Alessandro
Manzoni’ (the Betrothed). Proceed to Bergamo, visit the

local tour guide for a walking tour of the city. Then
free to take a stroll along the characteristic cobbled
lanes lined by handcraft
shops, bars and restaurants. Independent return to your

and at 09.00 depart for the charming Lugano. Visit your
preferred tourist sites. Continue to Como, view the production

with your guide at the wharf, by boat visit Villa Carlotta;

north to the medieval Abbey of Piona. You will be greeted
by a Cistercian monk: view the Romanesque cloister, the
frescoes, the sanctuary of Our Lady and the gardens. Learn
how the monks produce herbs, cosmetics, honey and their
famous liqueur, ‘Imperial Drops’. Off the tourist track
to the medieval village of Corennio Plinio, visit the
Castle and the 12C Church of St Thomas Becket. At a typical
‘cantina’ sample local meats, cheeses and wines. Independent
return to your hotel. |
