The 18C Villa Balbianello on the tip of the Lavedo promontory is perhaps the most spectacular spot on the Lake, with exquisite interiors and collections of pre-Columbian objects, Chinese porcelain, terracotta, reverse glass paintings, tapestries and carpets belonging to its last owner, Count Guido Monzino, a keen explorer.

Travel northbound to Tirano, stop for coffee before proceeding to Poschiavo and board the Bernina Express to Diavolezza, travelling along one of the most panoramic section of the Railway. View the White Lake, the Black Lake and breathtaking glaciers. Continue by coach to St Moritz view the Engadine Valley with crystal clear lakes. On our return we stop in Chiavenna.
