In Vergina we visit the Museum, with the tumulus of earth covering the royal tombs of Macedonia, feel the thrill of this great discovery when we visit the tomb of King Phillip II, Alexander’s father. At leisure at the Leptokarya resort. Dinner will be served with wine.

day 3 Leptokarya-Athens

Morning at leisure until our departure for Athens. Visit the renowned Hatzimichalis Wineries, learn about the production of wines and visit the underground cellars with 2500 oak barrels. Tasting at other vineyards will follow.

day 1 Athens-Epidaurus-Olympia

Morning departure. En route visit the Theatre of Epidaurus. Proceed for a short stop in Nafplion, then to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Through the Peloponnese towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis we arrive in Olympia in time for dinner.

day 2 Olympia-Delphi

In the morning visit the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Site and the Museum. Through the plains of Iliad and Achaia we cross the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Past the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos and Itea, we arrive in Delphi.

day 3 Delphi-Kalambaka

Visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum. Depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of gigantic rocks, Meteora.

day 4 Meteora

Amongst striking scenery, perched on the top of huge rocks, stand the ageless Monasteries, where you can see specimens of Byzantine art. Driving through the plain of Thessaly and the valley of Tempi, we visit the Archaeological Park of Dion and view the gigantic Mount Olympus, home of the 12 Gods of Mythology. Evening arrival at your hotel in Thessaloniki.

day 5 Thessaloniki-Macedonia

Enter Macedonia from a unique approach. Stop at Veria (Biblical Beroea), visit Saint Paul’s Bema, stroll through the old Jewish quarters and the markets. We proceed to beautiful Naoussa: Aristotle’s School, where the great philosopher taught his doctrines. View the Waterfalls in Edessa and see the exquisite 4C bC mosaics and the museum in Pella, birthplace of Philip II and Alexander.

day 6 Thessaloniki

Guided tour of this Byzantine Empire second only to Constantinople. Visit unique monuments and feel the glorious past in some of the oldest and most characteristic churches of Europe. Remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the lively city centre.

day 7 Vergina-Athens

In Vergina we visit the Museum, with the tumulus of earth covering the royal tombs of Macedonia, and we visit the tomb of King Phillip II, Alexander’s father. Driving south through Thessaly, Lamia, Thermopylae and Thebes, arriving in Athens in the evening.
